Introducing "My Child: Mothers of War"

With Cindy Sheehan into her second year of protesting the Iraq War, it's no surprise that uncritical television viewers think that all mothers of soldiers currently in Iraq are against the Iraq war. "My Child: Mothers of War," a new documentary about mothers of soldiers proudly serving overseas, makes it clear that there are plenty of mothers who support their son's service, and believe that the Iraq War is an essential piece to the War on Terror.

Through interviews with mothers in Texas and California, director Angeliki Giannakopoulos cuts past the partisan rhetoric to find the true feelings of the mothers of soldiers. These mothers admire their sons willingness to serve, and several of them criticism those mothers, like Sheehan, who would rather cut and run than stay and fight.

If you're looking for a film to explain to your liberal friends why the Iraq War matters, or want a reminder of the real sacrifices involved in the Iraq War, "My Child: Mothers of War" is a great start. Visit the film's web site, see our podcast, or buy the film.
